Funda Yıldırım
Dr. Funda Yıldırım is an Assistant Professor at the University of Twente, affiliated with the Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences and the Cognition, Data and Education (CODE) research group. She holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Bilkent University, an M.S. in Cognitive Science from Middle East Technical University, and a Ph.D. in Behavioral and Cognitive Neurosciences from the University of Groningen, followed by postdoctoral research at Boston University in collaboration with the Martinos Imaging Center at MIT. Her research sits at the intersection of neuroscience, extended reality (XR), and human behavior, examining how sensory experiences and perspective-taking influence decision-making in the domains of sustainability and health. She employs a diverse methodological toolkit including eye-tracking, fMRI, EEG, MEG, and virtual reality, and has collaborated on research exploring how VR can be used to counter climate change misinformation, published in Political Psychology (2026).
